COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Eagmark Principles of Crop Production course is a 4-week program designed to introduce learners in the field of crop production in the agricultural sector.

During the 4-week period, students will receive a comprehensive overview of plant biology, ecological concepts, soils and nutrient requirements, as well as crop pests and diseases. After completion of this level, students will be equipped with comprehensive knowledge in crop production and management.

Note: This course is designed based on appropriate global crop management standards.

CERTIFICATION

Students will receive an online certificate after completion of the course.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

After completing this course, students will be:

Able to understand the basic principles that apply to crop production and management.
Capable of identifying concepts relating to ecology, soils and nutrients, plant biology, insect pests, crop diseases, micro-organisms and pest management.
Able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the basics of crop production as a generic concept.
Able to articulate the importance of specific crop production practices and apply them in real practice.

PROGRAM DELIVERY

Eagmark’s online courses combine e-learning with hands-on and shared real-world learning experiences and opportunities using a three-pronged approach:

Students learn independently through the Eagmark Online Learning Campus (OLC)
Faculty/tutors and students work collaboratively through the Eagmark OLC to share information and exchange knowledge.
Students do remote practical assignments and record their work with a mobile device and upload the photos or video as evidence on the Eagmark OLC.

The Eagmark OLC includes advanced tools and functionalities that enable a full suite of blended learning environment. The OLC delivers this functionality through powerful, secure and personalized learning experiences.

Each course cohort is allocated a tutor who oversees the progress of the students. The tutors ensure regular communication and provide guidance as appropriate. The Eagmark OLC also provides a platform for students to communicate with each other and share their course experiences. This provides an advanced, more interactive and meaningful learning experience.

Requirements

The course is open to anyone with interest in the agricultural field, more so in livestock management.
There are no formal entry requirements, although prospective learners are required to complete pre-requisite courses to ensure basic proficiency and understanding of concepts in the English language, numeracy and computer literacy.
Note: All learning takes place online and students will require regular internet access via PC, tablet or phone to successfully complete this course.

Target audiences

This course is ideal for emerging farmers, recent graduates and established farmers wishing to refresh or upskill themselves in their basic knowledge of animal production to be applied in a wide range of agricultural practices.
